Between 2001 and 2010 the primary market grew at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 57.0% to reach USD177.0bln outstanding at the end-November 2011, and contributes approximately 14.3% of the global Islamic finance assets. The sukuk primary market is expected to grow at a phenomenal 88.0% y-o-y in 2011.

GCC Equities and IPOs - October 2011
GCC stock markets contracted during the first half of 2011 following the geo-political impact across the region several countries in addition to concerns on the health of the US economy and the Europe debt problem. The market spread was negative in five out the six GCC markets; except in Saudi, which was the only market that had a positive advancers to decliners' ratio.
